I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

A Table Bay Harbour police constable may be charged with possessing a stolen vehicle after he told officers a stolen car used in a robbery on Monday belonged to him.

The 24-year-old constable was arrested on Tuesday and was being questioned on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Andre Traut said two men had grabbed the handbag of a 37-year-old Bothasig resident and her 18-year-old daughter in the driveway of her house late on Monday.

They made their getaway in a red VW Golf with two other passengers.

Traut said the mother called the police and gave them a description of the vehicle. He said nearly an hour later officers in Table View spotted a vehicle matching the description.

The officers stopped the car and Traut said three men and a woman were arrested on a robbery charge and for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Traut said it was discovered the vehicle had been stolen in December last year.

More than three hours later Traut said the Table Bay constable went to the Table View police station and “claimed” the car was his. By that time police knew the vehicle was stolen.

He was then arrested and faces a charge of possessing a stolen vehicle.

Police were investigating whether the vehicle did belong to the constable and whether it had been stolen from him.
