Zim editor arrested over farm invasion report

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

The editor of Zimbabwe’s only independent daily newspaper has been arrested
over a report which alleges that police vehicles were used during a wave of
looting of white-owned farms. Geoff Nyarota, editor-in-chief of the Daily
News, was arrested at his home and is being held at Harare’s central police
station.

This is according to Thomas Deve, the newspaper’s CEO. “We have just been to
the police station to see Nyarota who has been arrested,” he says. “They say
his arrest was over yesterday’s report alleging police involvement.”

Police have confirmed Nyarota’s arrest, but are refusing to give further
comment. Bill Saidi, the paper’s assistant editor, says it is still not clear
whether Nyarota has been charged. “Our lawyers are at the police station and
we are waiting to hear whether he will be released or charged. We tried to
see him earlier but we were denied access,” says Saidi.

Zimbabwe has this week faced some of its worst violence from pro-government
militants who have illegally occupied white-run farms in the northwest parts
of the country.

Chinhoyi still tense
Yesterday, farming officials said the situation on white farms surrounding
Chinhoyi, northwest of Harare, was tense although police had finally moved
against militants who had ransacked and looted dozens of properties.

Southern African leaders acknowledged publicly for the first time yesterday
that a crisis in Zimbabwe was causing concern. Since then a committee of
presidents has been appointed to help resolve Zimbabwe’s problems. – Reuters
