US decries Zimbabwe political violence

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

The United States yesterday blasted the government of Zimbabwe for human
rights abuses and political violence and intimidation that it said were
contributing to regional southern African woes. “We remain deeply concerned
about the level of political violence and intimidation in Zimbabwe and that
country’s rapid economic decline,” Philip Reeker, State Department
spokesperson said. “The situation is taking its toll on southern Africa as a
region and it is discouraging foreign investment, creating a potential for a
refugee crisis and food shortages, as well as reducing trade within the
region. We condemn the serious human rights abuses and growing climate of
fear and intimidation for which the government of Zimbabwe bears primary
responsibility.

His comments came as renewed violence and looting in northern Zimbabwe caused
hundreds of white farmers to flee their properties and as the country remains
in the grips of the worst economic crisis since independence.

The economic problems have been made worse by political upheaval around
controversial land reform plans and opposition to the 21-year rule of
President Robert Mugabe ahead of elections set for next year.

In June 2000 at least 34 people died ahead of parliamentary elections.
Thousands more were beaten, raped, kidnapped or otherwise intimidated in a
campaign of violence and the occupation of white-owned farms by
pro-government militants led by self-styled veterans of Zimbabwe’s liberation
war.

Earlier this month, the US Senate passed the “Zimbabwe Democracy and Recovery
Act” which directs President George W. Bush’s administration to support the
people of Zimbabwe in their struggle to bring about democratic change and
restore the rule of law in the country.

It also asks the president to consult with other nations on ways to implement
visa restrictions and other targeted sanctions against those responsible for
political violence in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe’s Information Minister has denounced the bill as “racist.” –
