Addis Ababa – The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Dr Jean Ping, has learnt with shock and sadness of the string
of bomb attacks that hit the Nigerian city of Jos and the attacks on churches in the city of Maiduguri, which occurred on 24December and led to the killing of thirty?eight civilians, while dozens of others were seriously wounded.
He condemns in the strongest terms these cowardly terrorist attacks, which cannot be justified under any circumstances.
The Chairperson of the Commission extends his condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and prays for the speedy recovery of those wounded.
He reaffirms the determination of the African Union to combat terrorism and to continue to support the efforts being deployed by Member States in this respect.
