Zimbabwe: Rautenbach Shines in SA

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

Harare – YOUNG Zimbabwean motor rallying ace Conrad Rautenbach raised the country’s flag high at the Volkswagen Rally where he took a credible fourth place in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on Saturday.

Another top Zimbabwean motor rally driver Robson Maganezi also did well in the same event where he came second in the N3 Class.

The Volkswagen Rally was the fifth round of the eight-legged 2010 Sasol South African National Rally Championship in which Rautenbach and Maganezi are the only two Zimbabweans who are competing in this tough series.

Rautenbach (25) is competing in the main S2000 Class while Maganezi (39) is fighting for the top honours in the N3 Class, which is designed for two-litre cars.

And the two Zimbabweans once again did the nation proud when they managed to last the distance in the two-day VW Rally which started on Friday.

There was another close finish in the main S2000 Class, which was won by South Africa’s Johnny Gemmel who had Drew Sturrock as his co-driver.

According to reports from Port Elizabeth, Gemmell, in a Class S2000 Castrol Toyota Auris, took the lead on the rally at the end of the fourth stage on Saturday and in spite of determined onslaughts by fellow South African Enzo Kuun, in a S2000 BP VW Polo, and Rautenbach, in a S2000 Ford Fiesta, managed to keep them at bay and clinch the win.

Zimbabwe’s Rautenbach and his co-driver Peter Marsh finished fourth, 30.1 seconds behind Habig.

A puncture on stage eight put paid to any ideas that the Zimbabwean had of catching Gemmell after winning the first two of the five contested stages on Saturday morning.

Charl Wilken/Greg Godrich, in the Basil Read Bizhub Ford Fiesta, had their first finish in the Ford after a disastrous start to the season when Wilken’s new Ford Fiesta burnt out on the first event of the year.

The event consisted of 11 stages with a total stage distance of 163km and Zimbabwe’s Rautenbach and Maganezi were all smiles after they both managed to finish the race on Saturday. Maganezi was particularly pleased with his performance in the N3 Class where he finished second behind South Africa’s Stefanie Hugo. In fact, Maganezi came 25th overall while Hugo was placed 17th. But for Maganezi, it was one of his best performances during this year’s Sasol South African National Rally Championship series.

He also managed to pick up the much-needed championship points which saw him shooting to the top of the N3 Class log with 25 points.

“I’m actually pleased with my overall performance because the last four stages were a bit rough and we managed to finish the race despite running with a loose wheel towards the end,” said Maganezi, who was speaking from South Africa yesterday.
