South Africa: Protesters arrested after burning ANC office

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

Thirteen Welbedacht East residents, who were part of an angry mob that set alight an ANC councillor’s newly built office in the area because of poor service delivery, were arrested at the weekend.

The unhappy residents, who were moved from the Umlazi J and C section informal settlements to one-room corrugated iron houses in Welbedacht, Chatsworth, in 2006, said they were promised proper housing.

They also said they were told by area councillor Mathombi Mnyandu to stay in this temporary shelter for three months while they waited for their low-cost housing.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Vincent Mdunge said a case of public violence and arson was being investigated. “When we arrived at the scene on Sunday, the atmosphere was very tense and residents were saying they were not satisfied with the process of allocating houses.”

Irate resident Lindiwe Mkhize, 31, who has lived there for three years, said she refused to continue living under bad conditions.

Mnyandu, who serves part of Umlazi H, J, parts of Welbedacht and parts of Chatsworth, said she was aware of the community anger but did not think that they would do something like this.

“I am very upset with what happened because I had my belongings, furniture and documentation in my office.”

She said she was discussing low-cost housing for these residents with the council.

The suspects appeared in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court yesterday and were released on bail. The case had been adjourned to July 10.
