I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

Alerted to a hijacking in progress, an off-duty Durban policeman says his instincts kicked in and he had to help.
Inspector Kevin Nithiananthan chased after three suspected hijackers, arrested one and shot and killed a second after coming under fire in Merebank on Monday. The third man escaped.
The policeman was awarded a certificate for bravery by Merebank ward councillor Ebrahim Shaik on Wednesday.
‘This is my job and I am committed to it’ |
Nithiananthan, who is with the police emergency services unit, said his ex-wife had called him, saying there was a hijacking in progress. He grabbed his gun and raced to the scene.
“I responded because it is my job – it doesn’t matter whether I am at work or not. This is my job and I am committed to it.”
Nithiananthan said the hijack victim told him that three men had held a gun to his head and demanded his car. A neighbour had thrown a brick at the car to try to stop the hijackers. The hijackers had abandoned the car and run off.
Nithiananthan said he and the victim began searching nearby streets.
They spotted the hijackers in Junagarth Road.
‘I wanted to acknowledge his bravery’ |
“The suspects saw me and began to run. I got out of the car and chased them, but they pointed a gun at me. I got back into the car and caught up to them further down the road. One of the men tried to hide behind some shrubbery and when I approached he fired at me. I took out my gun and fired three shots and he was killed.”
The second suspect was arrested 200m away.
Lwazi Chamane, 20, pleaded guilty to an attempted hijacking charge in the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment.
Shaik said Nithiananthan had gone beyond the call of duty.
“I wanted to acknowledge his bravery because it is not very often that people go out of their way to help others. He single-handedly took on these men, which will make criminals think twice about coming back here.”
