A 44-year-old man appeared briefly in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for allegedly plotting to murder his business partner, Western Cape police said.
Senior Superintendent Billy Jones said Grant Smith was arrested in Pinelands on Tuesday.
“It is alleged that he, together with the 28-year-old Joanne Neethling, who was arrested last week, have conspired to have his business partner murdered.”
Jones said police were still investigating the motive.
Neethling, from Table View, was arrested a week ago after she allegedly handed a sum of money to agents posing as hired killers. The money was allegedly a down-payment to kill Smith’s business partner. Neethling appeared in court on Friday and was in custody.
Smith would stay in police custody until his next court appearance on Monday with Neethling. – Sapa
