I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

[Folks, ignore this. Boil your water, get used to it. You will not be warned before it happens again, and you or your family may get ill. Just boil water and get into that habit. Jan]
The water in Joburg’s northern suburbs has been declared safe to drink after a water warning that caused panic last week.
On Friday, Joburg Water sent out an urgent notice to residents living in Northcliff, Fairland, Cresta, Linden, Blairgowrie and surrounding areas of a possibility of the water quality being compromised.
This was picked up during the utility’s monthly sampling of drinking water. Residents were advised to boil their water before using it.
Additional tests were then conducted and the water in these areas was found to be safe for consumption and use and complied fully with the SANS 241 Drinking Water Quality.
“It is through this robust water quality programme that we can detect any possible contamination and take necessary actions if required to eliminate any negative impact on consumers and also ensure that the quality of every drop of the million litres of water that passes through our network each day is well within the drinking water standard,” said Gerald Dumas, the managing director of Joburg Water.
“To ensure that this status is maintained, our officials routinely monitor over 500 drinking water samples per month.”
On Friday, schools in the affected areas were alerted to the possible water contamination by radio reports, concerned parents, other schools and by word of mouth.
Meanwhile The Sunday Independent reported that an official from Joburg Water confirmed that E.coli had been found in the water during the routine sampling on Thursday.
This was the second water scare last week as news of an outbreak of cholera at the Chicken Farm informal settlement at Kliptown, Soweto, also spread. In that incident, two people were confirmed to have cholera. One has since died from associated illnesses.
The Gauteng Health Department said an investigation to establish the source of the outbreak was under way.
