I called out the electrician to my house in Johannesburg the one day about 2 weeks ago. The electrician, who had done work for me several times before, chatted. We had had some good chats in the past. Then he went and got his photo album out of his car.
He was very proud of a double-storey house he had built near the Kruger National Park hear in South Africa. This is the largest wild life reserve in the country, and it is over a century old. He showed me photos of his thatched house. I did not know it but you can buy stands near the Kruger National park, but you are only allowed to live there for 3 months in the year. So people build holiday homes there. And it really is like living in WILD AFRICA! These houses are spread out in the African bush. He showed me photos of large game that walk right up to your door.
Warthogs, babboons and all types of antelope walk right up to your door. And so do lions, leopards, etc!!! He and his brother had both built houses near each other. The one house had a view of the crocodile river.
While browsing his photo album, he then showed me the photos below and told me the following story.
South Africa’s hellish crime has reached even this remote area. In recent months 3 white people were murdered in the area. One day, a thief robbed a house in the area and then ran away into the bush. Some security guards started chasing him. Then as he ran into the bush, they heard the most awful commotion. The security guards were then afraid to go further so they waited a bit. Then finally, they approached.
And this is what they found: The thief had run into three lionesses who then attacked him and ate him. According to these witnesses he was killed and eaten in less than 15 minutes and what you see below is what they found. You will see the flattened grass as the lionesses and their victim were moving around – and no doubt from them lying around before the attack as well as while eating him. The lionesses stripped his body completely bare. I could not believe what the photos showed. But see for yourself.

Here you get a better view of the scene. You can see tree stumps, the flattened grass. I think this is his brown overall which he had on. I remember the electrician mentioning the brown overall.

And here is the freakiest part – his SKULL. The thief was a black criminal, but you won’t know it by looking at any of the remains. There is no hair on his skull. Even the hair and the skin has been eaten/pulled off!
Here is a close-up of the skull. I was quite amazed. Crocodiles have been known to kill and eat illegal border crossers into South Africa. This is the first time I’ve seen a human killed and eaten by lions.
