A 16-year-old girl was gang-raped in a dense forest after being kidnapped during a house robbery in northern KwaZulu-Natal’s KwaMbonami area, police said on Friday.
Captain Jabulani Mdletshe said police had found the girl on Friday morning in the local forest and were presently at the scene.
“Right now, we are arranging to take her to a district surgeon,” he said.
The girl was kidnapped when four armed men entered her family’s Esigaganeni home on Thursday night.
“The robbers fled with household goods, the family’s Toyota Hilux bakkie and the teenager,” said Mdletshe.
Police said the gang took the girl to a nearby forest where they took turns raping her. They fled and left her at the scene.
No arrests have been made yet but police have launched a manhunt for the robbers.
The victim, said Mdletshe, was the daughter of a well known KwaZulu-Natal personality. – Sapa
