I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

South Africa’s leading electricity supplier, Eskom, has once again asked consumers to use electricity sparingly.
Eskom is reportedly battling to keep up with the country’s electricity demands, as a result the probability of load-shedding is high.
According to Eskom, the problem started when a unit tripped at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in Cape Town, resulting in many parts of the country experiencing blackouts.
The company has said that load-shedding was expected to continue until 2014, with many parts of the country experiencing blackouts.
IOL has asked: “How are you dealing with power outages?”
Of the 464 readers who responded, 42 percent (194 votes) are conserving electricity, with 42 percent (196 votes) complaining, while 16 percent (74 votes) use alternative power.

My contitutional right to safety and security. With out power I cannot protect myself against criminals. Without elecricity I can not gain access into my own property. (without breaking in mind you). My electric fence does not work nore my motion sensor lights. I hope I do not ever get into a situation where something does happen because I did not have the elecricity I PAY FOR to prevent and protect me from the incident.

For some reason we never suffer power in JHB South, maybe because I am a kilometre away from Gold Reef City and Apartheid museum. You can imagine these are important institutions and can’t afford to be without electricity. Next time, you buy a house, think about position, position, position…

I just hope this doesn’t continue throughout the summer, because warm tequila just doesn’t cut it!
Julian:
Excellent idea Ace (10h45). We will all rush home and have boiled eggs for supper, saving power the way you suggest. Tomorrow, we will produce enough methane gas to power SA for a thousand years.

Umlung’omnyama, global warming poses the worst threat to our existence. If nuclear plants are built ,designed and maintained professionaly there is very little or no cause for concern. We also have surplus uranium reserves which is a plus. Coal is unsustainable and is responsible for over 80% of harmfull emissions in SA. This is a trend in most coal powered electricity sources, with the exception of hydro ,solar and wind. If we continue experts estimate that we earth as we know it may be doomed in the not so far future. In conclusion I will accept colatoral damage of a nuclear disaster 1 million dead but not the compromise of all existance.
JustMySay:
I pay my electricity so I will use it as I pleas. Eskom had ALL these years to upgrade there systems, but NO THEY rather pocket the extra money.

Good question PowerCutts, where does it go if we don’t use it??? I have a prepaid meter so I pay as I go or else I will live in darkness. But, with the way things are going, I might as well not pay because Eskom will do that for me anyway. What irritated me this week was that the electricty went off for about an hour, came back for 2 minutes and went back off just like that. Surely this on and off business is bad for our appliances. Anyway, I am one of those who complain with all my breathe when that happens. Just out of curiosity, do the government ministers and Telkom bosses also suffer power cuts
Same Old Same Old:
Brett, DUHH !!! have you never heard of the concept of lighting enabling VISIBILITY. Or did the Lord bless you with eyes that see everything clearly in the dark? Time for you to get real bud.
PowerCutts:
Why Pay for a service we not getting from Eskom, maybe we should just stop paying for the power supply . and do as they do in the townships and just use the power for free so if its off then its off you have not lost anything. Eskom knew years ago that this was going to happen, cant wait for 2010 FIFA will have to put a bell in the ball so that games can be played at night. BTW they cant store Electricity so fif it is not used at peak times where is it going ??
Pissed off:
Maybe we should stop paying for a service we are not getting anyway. and do what they do in the townships and just take the power fro free!!
