A six-year-old girl has been lured to a man’s shack and raped in Tembisa on the East Rand, police said on Thursday.
The 21-year-old approached her while she was playing outside her home on Wednesday, said Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha.
The man lured her to his shack where he undressed her, raped her and then warned her not to tell anyone.
However, her mother spoke to her when she found the child crying, and went to the police. The alleged rapist was arrested.
Police also arrested a 30-year-old man in Tembisa on Wednesday for the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl in February.
Ralidzhivha said the man offered her R10 to walk with him. However, at an open field near a railway he grabbed her, threatened to kill her if she screamed, then raped her and fled.
His arrest followed a tip-off.
A third man was sentenced in Tembisa magistrate’s court to 10 years’ imprisonment on Wednesday for raping an 18-year-old girl in Ivory Park in March.
Assistant Commissioner Joel Mokoena hoped the sentenced would serve as a “deterrent”.
Ralidzhivha said the woman agreed to accompany Phillip Joseph Khoza, 37, to an ATM to withdraw money, but on the way there was told they first had to go to his house to fetch his card.
After telling her he wanted to have sex with her, he threatened her with a knife then threatened to shoot her if she screamed and raped her. She later escaped. – Sapa
