SA: Restaurant closed after weekend hostage saga

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

The city restaurant which was the site of a hostage drama at the weekend will remain closed.

Owner Colin Nyoni, of Nyoni’s Kraal restaurant in Long Street, said on Sunday insurance assessors had to evaluate the damage to the premises and repairs done before it would be opened.

The husband of a manager stormed the premises on Saturday morning and held her and other employees at gunpoint.

The gunman, David Kula, 26, from Site B in Khayelitsha, was killed by a police marksman after a tense seven-hour stand-off in which three people, including Kula’s wife, Nosethu, were wounded.

Police spokesperson Bernadine Steyn said officers were called to the scene after they received a report about shots fired at the restaurant shortly after 10am.

“Several shots were fired at the police vehicle. It was damaged on the right side.”

Neither of the two student constables nor the constable in the van were injured, she said.

“It is alleged that the suspect entered the premises and that several shots were fired inside, wounding a male employee in the leg. Some of the employees ran out, including the injured man. He was treated in hospital and has been discharged,” she said.

Steyn said a woman who worked at the restaurant, was shot in the buttocks. She was treated at hospital and discharged. Kula’s wife was shot in the leg.

After 6.30pm a police team entered the building, throwing stun grenades and firing several shots that fatally wounded Kula in the chest.

His wife was taken to hospital for treatment and was later discharged.

The other employee who was held hostage by Kula was not injured.

Police are investigating several attempted murder charges.

Nyoni said Nosethu Kula was “very professional”. He said she was promoted to manager two months ago.

“She is at home (now) and is traumatised,” Nyoni said.
