A 44-year-old taxi owner and his friend were shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Zola, Soweto, Johannesburg police said on Monday.
The assailants pumped 16 bullets at the men using a 9mm pistol and an R-5 rifle on Sunday evening, Superintendent Thembi Nkhwashu said.
“Occupants of a red Honda allegedly shot at them while they were sitting in a car parked in a street in Zola at 7.30pm.”
The two men died in their car as the attackers drove off.
“Seven empty cartridges of a 9mm pistol and nine R-5 rifle cartridges were found at the scene.”
No arrests had been made and police were investigating two cases of murder.
The motive for the killings was not yet known. –
