I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

[Again, we have the ANC to thank for this. They don’t want teachers or even parents to spank and take control of children. Children need to be controlled by adults. If you can’t trust adults – who can you trust? But no… the ANC prefers it the other way around. The ANC likes to do everything the opposite of what the former white Govt did. Well, that will only unleash complete chaos because the former white Govt actually did some pretty good things. Jan]

Teachers assaulted, verbally abused and threatened. This is the situation at a Pretoria school where pupils carry knives and firearms and bunk class to gamble.
One would be forgiven for thinking the scene was a notorious school in the bad old days of the Bronx.
But this is apparently a daily experience for teachers at Silverton High School.
‘Schools are supposed to be centres of learning’ |
On Monday officials of the Gauteng department of education’s (GDE) district office will visit the school to assess the situation before a team of the provincial office visits it to make recommendations to the MEC.
“Schools are supposed to be centres of learning. We have received a report on this school and are assembling a team to report back to the MEC,” said GDE spokesperson Kate Bapela. “There is no way we can have such conduct at school.”
Three teachers from the school told the Pretoria News how they are at the mercy of pupils who have no discipline and do as they please.
The teachers have no recourse. “We feel victimised and bullied,” said a male teacher who did not want to be named.
“They swear at us and threaten us if we reprimand them. When we complain, the principal tells us to put it in writing but nothing ever comes of it.”
‘They have no concept of responsibility’ |
The school was established two years ago to accommodate English-speaking pupils who could not attend Ho?rskool Silverton next door.
The prefab buildings accommodate about 550 Grade 8 and 9 pupils.
Two female teachers described how they have had to physically defend themselves from “enraged pupils” who attacked them.
“One pupil attacked the principal; he slapped him in the face. This boy has a history of violence but was back at school two weeks later.
“A Zimbabwean maths teacher was kicked by pupils. They walked up to her and kicked her hard from behind. She spent the day in the staff room crying,” said the woman.
The man said it took days to complete a lesson because of the disruptions caused by pupils “coming and going as they please”.
He said only two classrooms had security gates on the doors, to “keep the pupils in, not criminals out”.
There were bright children at the school, he said, but they were threatened if they complained.
It was near impossible to get any homework completed, he said. “We have to beg and say please and lick their a***s to do anything.
“They have no concept of responsibility or time and just want to spend the day gambling and socialising.
“We don’t take teaching aids to school because they break them; we don’t put up posters because they tear them down. And we don’t bring cellphones to school because they steal them,” he said.
Pretoria News reporters parked outside the school for an hour and can confirm the allegations of unruly behaviour as told by the teachers.
When we arrived, a taxi with its music blaring was parked near the front gate as about a dozen pupils inside the locked gates were dancing and cheering.
A teacher tried to get the pupils back to class but they paid little attention to her. She eventually got the taxi to move by threatening to call the police. The pupils still did not return to class.
After the change-of-class bell, a man who later identified himself as acting principal Peter Noonan was seen chasing a group of pupils, trying to get them into class.
They tried to jam closed a metal door on the grounds to prevent him following them.
When some of the pupils noticed that they were being watched, they threatened to assault the Pretoria News reporter and photographer, used abusive language and made rude signs.
The male teacher said that on May 4, a toy gun and a flick knife were confiscated from two Grade 8 boys. Their parents were informed and both were back at school on May 7, he said.
The teacher said that on May 11, a firearm was confiscated from a Grade 9 boy. “His father was phoned to come and fetch the gun and it was returned to him.
“The 14-year-old boy removed the gun from his father’s safe without his permission or knowledge. The principal reported the incident to the GDE and to the Silverton police station.”
Bapela said their team would visit the school sometime this week to assess the situation and make recommendations to the MEC. She said the team had a “clear mandate and the power to get things done”.
“If there is such a mess at the school we will look at the issues like the conduct of the pupils and educators.
“We will asses the situation and make recommendations to the MEC,” she said. The MEC had the power to expel troublesome pupils, she said.
