S.Africa: Business against Crime manager gunned down
[Is it just me or are high profile white liberals in this country being knocked off? Rattray’s murder was a definite assasination. Look at the similar modus operandi below – gang of 5 – fire multiple shots at the victim. Something is going on. This is not just CRIME. Jan] Business Against Crime project manager Alan McKenzie was shot at the home of a family mamber in Table View, Cape Town police said on Wednesday. Captain Randall Stoffels said McKenzie (56) was shot four times by five armed men who entered the house after 10pm on Tuesday. McKenzie attempted to overpower one of the men, while a second man held the others in the house at gunpoint. Stoffels said two of the five men reacted. One shot McKenzie twice in the back and another shot him twice in the stomach. The men then fled the scene. McKenzie was rushed to hospital and is presently “out of danger”, said Stoffels. No arrests were made and police were investigating, he said. McKenzie is also the leader of the Monies-in-Trust project and former chief financial officer of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development. Department spokesperson Zolile Nqayi said McKenzie was due to present to Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) on Wednesday. Minister Brigitte Mabandla expressed “shock and sadness” at the news of the shooting and said she was confident that those responsible will be apprehended. “Minister Mabandla wishes the family of Mr McKenzie strength at this difficult time and wishes him a speedy recovery,” Nqayi said in a statement. — Sapa Source: Daily Mail & Guardian |
