This story in a local newspaper is about a black guy who committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a train. The front page caption read, “Death Came on Iron Wheels”. This happened near East London. A man lay down on the railway tracks in such a way that the train’s wheels would crush his neck. Someone warned the train driver by radio that there was something suspicious on the tracks. The train driver tried to stop the train. Even though the train was going slowly by the time it reached him the man apparently literally threw himself in front of the train. I’m surprised that the train did not cut his head off altogether. I find it hard to believe. But this was a front page news headline.
