I’ve been meaning to take photos for some time of the more heavily armoured cash-in-transit vans used by the banks. You will see many of the smaller, Toyota HiAce cash-in-transit vans are robbed. Those are owned and run by the security companies.

But then you get these “heavy duty” white vans, used by the banks. There is one building I used to work in, in downtown Johannesburg, where they seem to store a lot of cash, and have done over the years. These white vans are used to move money from there. I managed to take these photos of one of them passing me recently. These vans have double tyres at the back, and they look quite neat from the front. They slope downwards, as if they are built for speed! They’re pretty heavily armoured.
