The latest Kairos manifesto, authored by various criminal and morally bankrupt œleaders, is a laughable travesty of stupidity. Has anyone actually read the œplans to combat crime? œEncourage families to grow peace gardens and light candles for peace. Ohh, sca-ry “ I bet that has the rapists and muggers trembling “ Whoa Zolani “ watch out for that dangerous broccoli! How about œDeclaring schools and places of worship peace zones? Now that should REALLY deter a potential murderer or thief. I bet no criminal would DARE violate the sanctity of a œpeace zone. Maybe like the Baygon mosquito ad, they will fall dead at the entrance to such places? Thinking ahead to extrapolate these brilliant plans surely all we have to do is declare the whole of South Africa a peace zone! “ wow “ we will all be crime free overnight. œActing for peace, by œestablishing agendas for peace. Truly astounding. œActing through presence by œestablishing ministries of presence and so on. My sphincter is paralyzed in amazement.

They also want to œpersuade criminals to hand over their weapons. The minor little detail of œhow is unfortunately left out, but obviously this is an oversight. Perhaps messages chanted from the Mosques in an annoying sing-song? Aaiiee, Xoliswa, I can’t take that singing anymore “ quick “ hand in your weapons! One problem: how do we stop our entrepreneurial police from viewing these items as capital donations for the purposes of moonlight in order to supplement their income? All in all though, a jolly good plan from Archbishop Ndungane, Prof Botman, and that paragon of honesty and virtue, Ebrahim œsorry-my-buddy-is-in-jail Rasool, not forgetting our old upstanding model of crime-free integrity, the struggle accountant’s friend, Boesak. Stunning.

Hey, I’ve just had an amazing idea that they could add “ and this is very daring. How about making murder, rape and crime, wait for it “ illegal? Or is that going too far? Probably. I think we should just stick with the principles of the Kairos document and œreclaim our human dignity and œrebuild spirituality. The criminals will not know which way to turn! Spontaneous outbreaks of repentance and honesty will become commonplace. I am holding my breath with MUCH anticipation for the fruits of this wondrous transformation. Maybe it will even match the stupendous achievements of the African Renaissance? A hard act to top indeed. Congratulation to these respected œleaders. What did we do to deserve such awesome visionaries?
