[I am highly suspicious about the massive fires which resulted from a number of explosions in the UK. Whether the British Government will acknowledge that it is terrorism, is a question by itself.

I remember in Rhodesia, some terrorists fired an RPG rocket into the oil storage tanks in Salisbury (Harare). From our little farm, we could see the smoke for several days as the fire dept battled to put the fire out. Some of the storage tanks melted from the heat.

Soldiers and firemen walked around, almost knee-deep in the petrol, which could catch fire at any minute as they tried to contain it.

So the idea of terrorists hitting oil storage depots makes sense to me. Its quite easy to do… just a single hit or two and off you go.

This fire is the largest in Europe since World War II. Apparently the explosion rocked houses 40 miles away and was heard in France and Holland! So you never know – it could be terror – that’s where my money is. Jan]

————————————————————————–Fires continue to rage in Britain™s fifth largest oil depot at Buncefield near near London after three or four unexplained explosions which sent shocks across SE England.

Some 43 people were injured in the blasts which sent a huge fireball shooting 200ft in the air early Sunday. Half the depot and refinery installations were destroyed and the neighboring industrial estate badly damaged. Windows were blown out miles away.

Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes in surrounding towns and suburbs of Hemel Hempstead, St. Albans and Leverstock Green as a cloud of black smoke drifts east.

The Hertfordshire police ruled out external causes although they are keeping an open mind until the big, -destroyed fuel depot cools enough for an investigation. Many witnesses reported hearing an aircraft in the area at the time of the blasts. Some also reported heavy rumbles before the explosion.

Defense minister John Reid said cagily: The police still believe the disaster was accidental but do rule out alternatives.

On Dec. 7, an Islamic website ran an excerpt of an earlier videotape in which bin Laden™s No. 2, Ayman Zawahiri called on œholy warriors to concentrate their attacks on oil targets.
