[This gang actually has several murders behind them. They should all have been sentenced to death. But I have to laugh when I see these most impressive looking jail sentences. If 7 men are jailed for a total of 300 years, it works out to 42 years each. Along with good behaviour and the hush hush laws which allow them to let criminals go early – maybe 7 will be back on the streets in about 10 years or so. Our laws don’t really punish real criminals. Its more hype than anything else – and the criminals know it. The ANC is not fooling anyone. Even the guy who has multiple murders to his credit, will probably be out of jail in 20 years or less. Jan] Johannesburg – Seven men from Daveyton were sentenced to a total of 300 years in jail for murder, attempted murder and kidnapping, North Rand police said on Tuesday. A spokesperson said the seven, all in their thirties, were sentenced on Monday. They were found to have approached two young men and a woman on November 9 2003, and to have started an argument about a cellphone. The seven threatened the trio, assaulted them and then kidnapped them to an address in Muduma Street, Daveyton. Oscar Mambamula, Lawrence Kubeka and Lebogang Digoro were shackled with chains, seriously assaulted, sprayed with an insecticide tied up and tortured. Oscar Mambamula was then stabbed to death, the spokesperson said. The North Rand serious and violent crime investigation unit identified the seven and arrested them in January last year. All received a ten year sentence for attempted murder related to the assault of the victims and 15 years for kidnapping. Sibusiso Khanyile is to spend up to 25 years in jail for the killing; fellow-gangsters Zakhele Thekiso and Mfana Magagula 20 years; and Raymond Khubeka, Ntsepe Morotolo and Bafana Radebe 15 years.
