[This is hideous. I am not sure if this is the same story as I spotted in a newspaper today. But I saw a story also where a Black man hired another Black man to kill his wife. He gave the killer instructions to “kill her slowly”. I will find the article and post it later. Note how little he was paid for the murder: R5,000 ($833). Its sinful. Jan] Miriam Molefe’s one-month-old baby girl lay on a sofa helplessly as a family friend lunged at her mother over and over with a kitchen knife until the woman cried no more. The friend had allegedly been hired by Molefe’s husband, Peter, to kill her. On Monday, Johannesburg High Court Acting Judge D S S Moshidi found Emmanuel Morake,38, of Meadowlands in Soweto, guilty of murdering the 32-year-old woman at her Dube Village home on July 19 2001. Sentence was to be passed on Tuesday. In his explanation of plea, Morake said he had been contracted by his childhood friend, Peter Thabo Molefe,39, to kill Miriam. Molefe has pleaded not guilty to murder and will be tried separately. His trial was expected to start on Tuesday. Miriam Molefe was alone at home with her baby daughter, Katlego, when Morake arrived there on July 19. She did not suspect anything as Morake was her husband’s friend, but moments later he attacked her with a knife, stabbing her 22 times. Morake and Molefe evaded arrest for three years until they were caught on September 11 last year. Morake told the court he was approached by Molefe in July 2001 to kill his wife.
