S.Africa: Three, including cop, robbed in cash heist

Three people including a police officer were robbed after a cash heist by seven robbers, Pretoria police said on Friday. “At around 7.15am this morning seven men forced a security vehicle off of the road between Ekangala and Cullinan near Bronkhorstspruit. They caused the security vehicle to roll off the road after which they robbed three people and took an unknown amount of cash from the vehicle,” said police spokesperson Inspector Anton Breedt. Breedt said a police officer who had stopped to inspect the accident scene was robbed of his service pistol. Two civilians were robbed of their personal possessions including a Toyota Corolla. The seven men fled the scene in the Toyota and in their green Nissan bakkie Breedt said. Both vehicles were later found abandoned on the Ekangala road five kilometres from the scene. Breedt said the men were still at large with the stolen money. No injuries were reported. – Sapa Source: Independent Online (IOL) |
