Johannesburg: Elderly Couple attacked with steel pipe

An elderly East Rand couple are in a critical condition in hospital after being brutally attacked by a man using a steel pipe, police said on Friday. Inspector Thomlyn Jacobs said police were called to a house in Delville, Germiston, on Thursday where they found the woman, 56, unconscious. “The man, 63, had sustained head injuries and a broken arm. “The suspect was seen leaving the house on foot and the steel pipe was found at the scene,” said Jacobs. She said the motive for the attack was unknown.
