Iran to sell RPGs to African and Asian countries

IRAN MARKETS RPG SYSTEM

LONDON [MENL] — Iran has launched the marketing of an indigenous rocket-propelled grenade system.

Iran’s Defense Industries Organization has displayed its upgraded RPG-7 launcher meant to be lighter than the Soviet-era model. Iranian officials maintain that the indigenous launcher was more accurate and easier to use than other models.

Iran unveiled the new RPG system at Defendory International 2004, held in Athens in October 2004. Officials said they expect orders of the RPG from several unidentified militaries.

Iran has reported sales of military equipment to 42 countries. Those countries were said to include African and Asian states, many of whom purchased rocket and missile systems.
