S.Africa: Mob beats black man to death

[This is a black on black incident. It reflects the frustration even blacks feel with crime. Jan] Polokwane – Seven people have been arrested on charges of killing a man after he allegedly tried to kill his girlfriend to prevent her from testifying against him in court. The seven suspects jumped into a car and chased after a bus the man was travelling in on Friday. They caught up with the bus along the road between Polokwane and Ga-Maleboho in Limpopo. Inspector Ntobeng Phala for Capricorn police said: “They stopped in front of the bus, forcing it to pull off the road, then dragged the man out and beat him severely.” By the time paramedics arrived, 57-year-old Isaac Makwaeba, was dead. He’d been on the run from police after assaulting his girlfriend, Elisa Ramango, 42, last week. She was assaulted two days before Makwaeba was to appear in court for an earlier assault on her. Last week, she was hit several times on the back of the head with a hard object and stabbed repeatedly with a spear until she lost consciousness. Neighbours came to her rescue and the man fled, but they eventually caught up with him on Friday. Phala said Makwaeba had earlier been charged with assault and the possession of an unlicensed firearm when police found Ramango so badly beaten that they had to call an ambulance to take her to hospital.
