S.Africa: Black Police captain shot dead in shower

Pretoria – A police captain was shot while in the shower of his Pretoria West flat, detectives said on Wednesday. Captain Lesibana Mokoka, 41, was found lying on the floor of his living room on Tuesday evening. He had been shot in the head. Police were still trying to determine the exact string of events but are hoping that a 38-year-old woman found huddled in an adjoining bathroom may shed light on the crime. Emergency personnel tried to resuscitate Mokoka but he died moments after their arrival. Police spokesperson, Captain Piletji Sebola, said Mokoka, who had been in the service for 17 years, was the duty officer at Pretoria West and had just returned from a 18:00 inspection. “We are not sure what exactly happened, only that he was either in the shower or about to have a shower when the attack took place,” he said. He said downstairs neighbours heard a shot and rushed to his flat and found Mokoka lying on the floor. They also found the woman, who was later admitted to the Eugene Marais Hospital suffering from shock. Police had still not been able to interview her. Edited by Duane Heath Source: News24.Com |
