I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

Mob justice was averted when police came to the rescue of a teacher accused of raping school girls at a school in Mabopane.

The 43-year-old teacher has been arrested and charged with rape.

On Monday morning about 250 parents gathered at the school in Block A to “attack” the teacher. “I am more than angry, this is a disgrace,” said a pupil’s father. “I want him to stand in front of me and explain to me what he wanted to do to my daughter.”

The man, who cannot be named, said the teacher allegedly made advances towards his 14-year-old daughter. He said he received a call at work Monday morning informing him that the community wanted to attack the teacher for what he was doing to their children.

He said that when he arrived at the school he found hundreds of angry parents waiting to get their hands on the teacher. “I asked my daughter what was happening. She said that the teacher asked her out, but she said no to him.”

The man said the school called the police to defuse the situation.

Mabopane Block A2 Community Policing Forum chairperson Dynamite Ntleane said the community surrounded the school to ensure that the man was taken away by police. He said the community was angry at what the teacher had allegedly done and they wanted justice to take its course. “When the community saw that he was in the back of the police van they were happy,” he said.

Police spokesperson Inspector Paul Ramaloko confirmed that the teacher had been arrested and charged with rape. “This has been happening for quite some time. The latest incident was two weeks ago when a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the suspect’s office,” he said, adding that the child protection unit was investigating the matter. Ramaloko said the man would appear in court soon.

The education department could not be reached for comment.
