Mugabe arrests Valentine’s day women

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

On Valentine’s Day, an organisation of Zimbabwean women, WOZA, tried to hold some marches for
peace and love, when they were arrested by the Zimbabwea Police. WOZA is an acronym for
“Women of Zimbabwe Arise”, but it is also a Zulu word meaning “come forward”. The Zimbabwe
Police arrested a total of 73 persons, mostly women, for the Valentine’s day love and peace
march. They had selected Kofi Anan of the UN as their Valentine and had wanted to deliver
a letter to Kofi Anan.

I know one of the women who is the driving force behind WOZA. She is Jenni Williams, a white
woman who used to be the spokesperson for the CFU (Commercial Farmers Union). Jenni was also
arrested, and it is worth telling how she became involved in all this, and how Mugabe has
persecuted her. I met Jenni last year and we spoke at length about the problems in Zimbabwe.

Jenni is actually a businesswoman, whose speciality is public relations. She was originally
hired by the Commercial Farmer’s Union to be their spokesperson. She became frustrated with
their attitude of never-ending surrender to Mugabe. Later, a group of farmers broke away to
form JAG (Justice for Agriculture) which had a much more confrontational attitude towards
Mugabe. Jenni became their spokeswoman. However, Jenni’s professional involvement later
turned into a personal mission to try to save her country. Then she broke away from JAG and
became involved in WOZA.

I met Jenni just before she started on her personal crusade. I first saw her in Johannesburg
when she held an information briefing for the South African and International Press. She had
a presentation entitled “The Wet Drought”, showing film footage of Zimbabwe showing the dams
are largely full and that the crop failures were not at all due to lack of rain – but due to
mismanagement and destruction by the so-called “War Vets”. Very few of the media, and almost
none of the South African media had the balls to come out and tell the truth, which she had
showed. She showed film footage shot secretly, along with mountains of graphs, statistics and
quotes.

I still told her she was an extremely brave woman because she already had a history of personal
confrontation with Mugabe. Jenni is, to my mind, a modern-day Joan of Arc, a woman who is doing
a job which men are too frightened to do.

As a public relations professional, Jenni was excellent at what she did – so much so that she
was nominated for the “Communicator of the Year Award” in Zimbabwe. Among the nominees, she was
finally selected as the winner. When that happened, Mugabe then scrapped the “Communicator of
the Year Award” for the first time in Zimbabwe’s history. This woman who had publicly criticised
Mugabe was not allowed to be seen winning such an award – so they just stopped giving it altogether!
She told me that she was one of the very few people to ever openly criticise Mugabe in public
in Zimbabwe – and for this she paid the price.

When she returned to Zimbabwe, after I spoke to her, she suffered other misfortunes. It appeared
to me as if her business was losing customers, and others were withholding money from her. I
suggested to her that maybe Mugabe’s henchmen were trying to destroy her financially. She took
it in her stride and said something to the effect that “this was to be expected”. But her
financial struggles did not stop her. She continued on.

She had outlined to me her Gandhi-like strategy. She was going to mobilise the women. She wanted
to imitate Gandhi’s passive resistance. She was thinking of doing simple psychological things
to show her resistance to Mugabe’s campaign of genocide. She was thinking of
walking barefoot to show solidarity with those who were starving – or encouraging women to bang
their empty cooking pots in the evenings, and then getting other women to join in. Surely Mugabe
could not arrest women who had no food to cook for their families? Those were her plans.

Some of it no doubt caught on, because recently, the Zimbabwe cricket team were playing a match
in Namibia, when two of its members, of their own volition, wore black arm-bands showing their
sadness over “the failure of democracy in Zimbabwe”. These two players, one black, and one white,
issued a joint statement to the media about their concerns for their country. For that they were
thrown out of the cricket team the very next day.

WOZA chose to march on Valentine’s day. They wanted to present a letter to Kofi Anan, and to
nominate him as their Valentine – hoping he could use his influence for the good of Zimbabwe.
Of course, in my view Kofi Anan is no different to Mbeki, Mandela and Obasanjo of Nigeria, who
are all sucking up to Mugabe. Anan has so far shown no real backbone towards dictators. Anan is
an appropriately useless head of the UN (Useless Nations) who, in the end, achieve nothing
against dictators. But, at least, there is symbolism and meaning in what they tried to do.

It was of course significant for them to do their march on Valentine’s day and they approached
the Police for permission. They were going to have marches in more than one city on that day.
The Police agreed, but then changed their minds, citing various pointless reasons (as you will
see in their letter below).

It is worth noting why they refused this. Mugabe, being the inveterate liar that he is, is always
playing a subtle game trying to show that his enemies are making up lies about him. For example,
he takes the International Cricket Matches in his country very seriously and sees them as an
opportunity to rehabilitate his image. Mugabe’s good friends, President Mbeki of South Africa,
and President Obasanjo of Nigeria, have been working overtime to try to rehabilitate Mugabe’s
image too. Sadly, they are succeeding to some degree.

It is worth seeing how Mugabe used his powers to try to subtley discredit his enemies. He wanted
to try to discredit all the stories about Zimbabwe. Here is how he went about it. After throwing
out all the Western journalists who reported negatively about the country, he only let those
in who were going to report on cricket. They were let in on the strict understanding that they
were to report on nothing but cricket. They were not allowed to travel outside the cities.
Mugabe had “body guards” assigned to them “for their personal protection”. The aim was to
see to it that they could not travel around freely, and could not meet with anyone they wanted.
They would be under 24 hour surveillance.

Currently Zimbabwe is experiencing tremendous fuel shortages resulting in tremendously long queues
of cars. The Zimbabwe Police went around to petrol stations instructing them to get rid of the
unsightly queues! Many Zimbabweans are angry at the cricket matches and saw it as an opportunity
to demonstrate before foreigners about Mugabe’s rule. His Police have been cracking down on
any sign of protest during this time.

It is obviously for this reason that the WOZA peace and love marches were also blocked by
the Police. Nothing can be allowed to upset this false facade of peace while foreign visitors
are in the country.

Mugabe has another propaganda victory on its way when he travels to France in the near future
in spite of EU sanctions and restrictions.

Mugabe has been the master of terrorism, for a long time. People in Zimbabwe have been very
frightened of expressing their true feelings for a long period of time. Inside Zimbabwe, everyone
knows that one must not go up against him because he is ruthless. That is why people in Zimbabwe
often suffer quietly. The populace is largely disarmed, and people know that he will act with
ruthlessness. Zimbabwe is a country held hostage by its ruler. Torture in Zimbabwe these days is
common. But then again, under Mugabe’s rule, Zimbabwe has always had a bad human rights record –
even at the UN.

But the opposition is struggling forward. It is possible, for example, that the treason trial
of Morgan Tsvangirai, like the jailings of these women, is merely a warning intended to
intimidate people. He may for example, even pardon or let Tsvangirai go in an attempt at
rehabilitating his own image.

But it is not all good news for Mugabe. I have received confidential information that the US
government is actually becoming quite concerned about southern Africa as a whole, and that
the US government is engaged in secret activities monitoring everything here very closely –
especially the situation in Zimbabwe. In recent weeks I have received information, which
definitely makes me feel that the Western world has never totally abandoned its responsibilities
towards Africa, and that even in the past, the Western world did certain things behind the scenes
we were all unaware of. In particular, I heard that Nelson Mandela desperately wanted to turn
South Africa into a communist state when he first came to power, but the Western world put him
under tremendous pressure, which caused him to take the “moderate route”. Ironically, it was
Mandela who got the credit and fame for being a “moderate”, but the real facts were very different.
As you can see, from Mandela’s recent, vicious attacks on Bush, he is showing where his real
sympathies lie! He hates the West, especially America, as much as he ever did.

Another bit of positive news is that the Concerned Zimbabweans Abroad (CZA) – (see their website
at: http://Zimbabwean.netfirms.com– and please support them if you can) recently held a protest
at the cricket matches here in South Africa. They wanted to put people in coffins and to show that
people were dying in Zimbabwe. As in Zimbabwe, the government here tried to stop it. The Police
here refused them permission to use the coffins because, the Police said “it sent a strong message”.
It was curious how a white South African Policeman helped them, but a black South African
Policeman (on orders from above), tried to block their protest. Jay Sibanda, the leader of CZA
told me how the white Police captain told him they were not allowed to use the coffins. When
Jay pleaded with him, the Policeman was almost in tears. He said he sympathised with them, but he
would be fired if he let them go ahead. Eventually he said, he was risking his career but he would
take Jay to his superior. His superior was a black Policeman who gave all his reasons for refusing
the Zimbabweans the use of the coffins. The black superior would hear nothing of their reasons.
He said they could do their protest – but with no coffins. The white Policeman took them back and
quietly told Jay – do your protest without the coffins – but when it is over, and we are gone,
you can go over there, where the international media is, and you can use your coffins. We won’t
bother you. And so it was that Jay mananged to still get the international media to film them
in their coffins, and the BBC especially did a great story on the Zimbabweans. But what I am
telling you is what went on behind the scenes, the haggling and the difficulties that had to
be surmounted against the resistance of the South African authorities. People think these
Zimbabweans in South Africa have an easy time protesting against Mugabe, but I know of many
hurdles which are put in their way.

Neverthless, they are succeeding, so much so, that Jay got a call directly from the Zimbabwe
High Commissioner in South Africa who threatened him. It is interesting, how the High
Commissioner tried different tactics on Jay. He tried to threaten him, and when that did
not work, he tried to entrap him. He asked “Why aren’t you doing demos in Zimbabwe” Duh!!
Isn’t that laugh? If Jay held the protests in Zimbabwe, he and his people would be
tortured and jailed. He said “The Police stopped you from using coffins so why did you use
them anyway?” (Obviously he had reports of what had actually happened). He went on
“What you are doing is illegal, and we can arrest you and take you back to Zimbabwe.”
Jay said to him, “I don’t know much about the law, but I do know you cannot arrest me in this
country. You need to go through the South African courts if you want to get me. Only they
can authorise my extradition back to Zimbabwe. When threats failed, he tried to trick and
entrap him. He said “Listen Jay Jay, let us work together with you. We can give you money
and transport.” As Jay said, if he were to ever take money from them, they would immediately
put the word out that he had taken the money and in a single moment all his credibility would
be destroyed. The High Commissioner also tried to entrap him by saying “When are you coming
to Zimbabwe? You must hold demos here. When will you be coming here?” Clearly he was thinking
Jay would be stupid enough to walk into Zimbabwe where the Police can arrest and torture him.
Eventually Jay just cut him off and he never phoned again. But it goes to show how Jay’s game
is causing severe concerns for both the Zimbabwean and South African governments.

Jay’s arm is much better after the operations he has had after the attempt on their lives some
months back by Mugabe’s agents in South Africa.

I have long been advising Zimbabweans that we can make South Africa the battle ground for their
cause because of South Africa’s close relations with this country, and also because the odds are
not as stacked against them here as in Zimbabwe, plus many locals can join them and help them.

After the demo I helped Jay to find a place to stash away the coffins for future use to embarrass
them again!! Those coffins did good work!

Although operating on mere shoe-string budgets, both CZA and WOZA have done well… by having
the balls to express their views they have had an effect, which is out of all proportion to their
numbers. CZA’s membership is growing, and they now have branches in Cape Town, Botswana and in
New Zealand. If anyone anywhere in the world wants to help form a local chapter for CZA
(Concerned Zimbabweans Abroad), then please go to their website and contact them. They can accept
donations via PayPal as well.

Important Note: A day after I wrote this article, Jay Sibanda of the CZA came to see
me. He was quite concerned. He said he had 7 death threats on his cell phone on the weekend.
He said 6 were from black men and one was from a white man. One of the calls was quite lengthy.
They told him that they knew “he was trying to start a war” and they were aware of all his
activities. We are going to try to see if we can retrieve recordings of these messages from
the cell phone company. But in the light of the previous attempt on Jay, Jairos and the other’s
lives (which resulted in them ending up in hospital), he is taking it very seriously, and
they are making plans to move him and his family to safety. In the light of the events with
the Zimbabwe High Commissioner, I would hazard a guess that these threats are probably from
the Zimbabwe government. What adds to this suspicion is that the callers mentioned certain
things, which suggest to me that they have been spying quite intensely on Jay and know a lot
of what he is doing. I think he is dealing with professional spies working for a government.
He will be taking these death threats seriously in the light of past events.

As for me, I have been having my own adventures as I spread my book across South Africa. Local
liberals and communists really hate me. At some stores, you can almost feel the hatred – not from
blacks or coloureds, but from white liberals and commies in management who absolutely HATE my
message. The blacks looked at my book, but have never made negative comments in any way. Bit by
bit, against the odds, my book is spreading around. One white woman, the buyer at probably
the biggest book store in the country, looked at it and said “You and I are on opposite sides!!”
She continued, “My parents are proud of what they did for this country – they were members
of the South African Communist Party”. Then she looked at my book and laughed at it. I retorted
angrily, I have freedom of speech, and this book is my freedom of speech!! Of all the orders I got,
this, the biggest store in the country, placed the smallest order. No doubt they are hoping to
stick it in a corner and hope that they never have to re-order it again! A former President of
Botswana has now seen my book and read it! So it is spreading around. I believe, in the fullness
of time, as the word of my book spreads (in spite of the tremendous difficulties I have to
surmount), that it will indeed cause an uproar. I have a certain strategy, for spreading my book
in this country where the media is heavily stacked against me, and where they will crucify me. It
is slow, and it is working, and I am now pushing forward with greater speed.

Where there is hatred, help us to sow love, where there is despair, hope!

To: THE HONOURABLE KOFI ANANN –
UNITED NATIONS SECRETARY GENERAL
From: Representatives of the Women of Zimbabwe coordinated by WOZA
Subject: Be Our Valentine 2003
Date: 14th February 2003

Dear Sir,
Warm Valentine’s Day greetings from Women of Zimbabwe Arise. The word WOZA
is Zulu meaning ‘COME FORWARD’).

Representatives of the women of Zimbabwe have chosen you as our first
Valentine selected. In choosing you, we are hopeful that you will help us
to unite our nation so that Zimbabweans learn to love again and end the
hate and violence.

Zimbabwe is hungry for food, love and peace. Women are deeply concerned
and it is a daily challenge to fulfill our motherly role. It pains us to
see our children go to bed hungry despite the fact that we spend long
hours in food queues. Our stoves and cooking fires are cold, as most days
we have nothing to cook. The hunger has begun to eat away at the family
unit and is gnawing it way through into our communities and tearing apart
the social fabric of Zimbabwe.

Family members are hardly ever at home as they are always seeking basic
commodities that are in short supply. Everyone is too busy trying to get
something for themselves and they have little time to give or receive
love. We now survive and some even work in the black market, capitalizing
on the chaos and feeding off each other for gain.

The age-old adage says, “A hungry man is an angry man.” Violence, which
has always been a problem in our country, is flaring because of hunger.
Hungry husbands are beating up their spouses for failing to serve them
sadza (our staple diet – a stiff maize porridge). It is also a challenge
to serve them with vegetables and we have almost given up finding
affordable beef. We are also ashamed to mention that many of us are
victims of sexual abuse by youth militia and officials when all we want is
mealie-meal, bread, and other foodstuffs.

Our sons and daughters have also been forced to attend the Border Gezi
National Youth Service Camps. There, they are supposedly undergoing
patriotism training but they are instead raped and trained to be violent.
Some return home pregnant or diseased. We are unsure of what to do about
these camps as we are told our children will not be able to get jobs until
they ‘graduate’ from this training.

Father, for how long will we suffer to feed our families? In making you
our Valentine we share this burden with you as the abuse has weakened our
strength to cope.

As our Valentine, help us also to re-ignite love in Zimbabwe. As women,
we will walk on Valentines Day, and our voices will ring with messages
against hate and violence in all its forms. We know that as we do this, we
may face violence but it will feel good to champion the cause for love.

We request you this Valentine’s Day to amplify our message so that
everyone hears our cry for love and peace. We have heard you speak and
know that you have us in your heart despite your busy schedule. Please
help us spread the message of love and put an end to the violence in
Zimbabwe so that we can once again become productive and have FOOD not
SHORTAGES piling our plates.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Your Zimbabwean Valentine’s
