WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

But the Joint Task Force in charge of security operations in the Borno State capital denied any killing or arson, saying there was no human casualty in the blast except the three wounded soldiers and that the explosive device was responsible for the fire.

Daily Trust could not independently confirm the level of the damage or the number of the dead because security men blocked the road leading to the market area yesterday.

It their account of the Saturday incident, the military said suspected Boko Haram sect followers threw an explosive device in front of a moving patrol vehicle near the palace of the Shehu of Borno, injuring three of the soldiers in the vehicle.

But witnesses said soon after the bomb went off, the JTF men began shooting indiscriminately, causing a pandemonium in the market. At least 44 people are either dead or are missing as a result of the military operation that followed the blast, the witnesses said.

Badigma Bukar said over 50 shops, makeshift stalls and many vehicles belonging to traders and customers were burnt at the market area.

“When the bomb went off, it affected a nearby transformer which is several metres away from the market,” he said. “But minutes later, many shops went up in flames.”

The Associated Press news agency also quoted Bukar, whose arm was injured in the attack, as saying that he saw eight dead bodies after the explosion.

Another witness, Kaka Nuhu Kaleri, told journalists that after the blast, “we all fled for safety and when the dust calmed down, we came out and saw some soldiers on the ground, in a pool of blood. Then, many JTF vehicles appeared and the soldiers started shooting indiscriminately.”

The BBC Hausa also quoted Kaleri yesterday as saying that some people were burnt to death in their cars and that the soldiers also set fire to virtually all homes in the neighbourhood.

A worker at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorised to speak to the media, told Daily Trust that five dead bodies were taken to the hospital morgue from the Budun market.

But spokesman for the JTF Lieutenant-Colonel Hassan Mohammed told Daily Trust that no civilian was affected by the blast and denied the claims that over 40 people were killed by the JTF members who raided the market in search of the bombers.

“It is unthinkable to say that 44 people were killed by the JTF in Budun. This is an outright lie,” he said.

“Forty four is not a small number and I don’t think if the people making the allegation are in their senses. All the soldiers that we have on ground are professionals and we are here to make peace but members of the Boko Haram don’t want to allow the people to live in peace. They are responsible for the bombing,” he said.

He added that the soldiers did not burn any shop or vehicle. “The impact of the bomb was responsible for all the damages at the market and not soldiers,” he said.

Mohammed said no arrest was made in respect of the Budun incident, “but some residents are voluntarily providing information to us.”

However, the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, popularly known as Boko Haram, yesterday denied responsibility for the Saturday bombing, alleging that that there was a grand plan to discredit them.

Spokesman for the group Abu Zaid, who spoke by telephone, said, “We are not responsible for the blast in Budun but I want to draw your attention that there is a grand conspiracy by some people to attack markets, hospitals and mosques and then attribute the havoc to us.”

“Of what benefit will it be for us if we attack such places?” he asked, and made reference to a newspaper publication on June 8 (not Daily Trust) where it was reported the Boko Haram have perfected plans to attack some selected places.

When asked if they know who was responsible for the Saturday attack, Abu Zaid said, “We always claim responsibility of whatever we do, but I want to tell you that we are not responsible for what happened at Budun on Saturday.”

On whether he is aware of a splinter group which goes by the name Jama’atu Ahl As-Sunnah Wa Al Jama’a Ala Min Haj As Salaf, Abu Zaid said, “We have heard of them. It may probably be a group of youth who want to exert influence because of the injustices in the society. We would look for them and see the probability of co-opting them.”
