The Police in Bauchi State have arrested a housewife for allegedly trying to kill her husband.
State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Indabawa who made the disclosure to newsmen yesterday while parading the woman, Habiba Abubakar a mother of two, said that the estranged wife allegedly hired four thugs to kill her husband because she felt she was dissatisfied with the marriage.
He said that two of the suspects Habiba hired to do the job have been arrested and would be charged to court soon along with her, adding they were arrested following an alarm raised by younger brother to Abubakar.
In his account, the husband of the estranged wife, Abubakar Fada, said,”When I came home, at around 9 a.m,i heard a strange movements inside my house, so i asked my wife about it, but She said maybe it is just the wind. I then directed her to close the door which she did.”
Abubakr said he later heard commotion outside his house, with some people calling him to come out side to identify whether he knew the strange persons. He added that”When I came out I saw two men who had been arrested by the crowd and they asked me if I knew who they were, but I said I did not know them and they were taken to the police”.
In her confession, Habiba who said she was unhappy with her marriage to Abubakar and had become obsessed with living with him, added that her husband had divorced her three times but on each occasion, her parents returned her to her matrimonial home.
Habiba refused to disclosed her husband’s shortcomings, saying that there was no way she could be separated from her husband unless he died, which motivated her decision to contracted hired killers to eliminate him.
In their confession, the two suspects who gave their names as Uzairu Mohammed and Auwalu Ahmed t disclosed that they were contacted by the woman to kill her husband, but they decided to drop the idea in the long run.
The two suspects who live at games village and at Jahun Corner Gurmamu in the state capital said “We have never killed anyone in our life and we couldn’t do it even though she hired us. In the process of trying to leave the house, our knives fell and we were arrested”.
