Masvingo – A 26-year-old Chikombedzi man last week allegedly killed his brother after attacking him with a spear before stabbing him all over with an Okapi knife following a row over blankets and pots.
The goods belonged to the pair’s late mother.
Thomas Muhlanguleni of Ndali Village in Sengwe communal lands, Chikombedzi, reportedly stabbed his young brother, Hahlani Maboleni (24) several times on the back with a spear, before using an Okapi knife to finish him off.
Masvingo police spokesman Inspector Tinaye Matake yesterday said they had since arrested Muhlanguleni in connection with the murder of his brother.
“We have arrested the suspect and he is in custody assisting us with investigations following the murder of his brother in a row over blankets and pots.
“The suspect will appear in court soon facing murder charges,” said Inspector Matake.
It is alleged that on the fateful day, Muhlanguleni and Maboleni – – who are siblings – – had an altercation at their home over their late mother’s blankets and pots.
A dispute is said to have arisen as each of the brothers claimed to be the rightful owner of the blankets and pots.
In a fit of rage, Muhlanguleni reportedly ar-med himself with a spear, which he used to attack his brother before stabbing him several times on the back.
Still seething with anger, Muhlanguleni allegedly used an Okapi knife to stab his young brother in the abdomen until he collapsed and died.
Maboleni’s body was taken to Chikombedzi District Hospital where it is awaiting post-mor-tem while Muhlanguleni was arrested and taken to Chibwedziva Police Post.
