This feat of engineering really impressed me a lot for such a small town.
Orania is next to the Orange river. They built this pipeline by obtaining old pipes from a mine. These pipes are quite thick. They’re about 50cm in diamater. And you can see the pipes stretching into the distance. In the photos below is also a picture of a booster station they built to push the water further uphill. In the distance you can see their irrigated fields.
I really enjoyed this… but I was equally impressed by their factories.
Factories in Orania? Are you kidding me? Damned right… I’ll put up some photos.
BTW, Orania is a privately owned COMPANY. Orania is capitalism in action.
Its not Afrikaner socialism. It is Afrikaner Capitalism in action! Remember, much of the British Empire was founded using companies such as the British South Africa Company, etc. Capitalism ROCKS!
