When we arrived at Orania at our guest house, we were informed that we did not have to lock our cars. We did not have to lock our rooms and that nothing would be stolen.
When I show you photos of Orania you will see nobody has high walls in Orania. At most there are little fences, and some places, like the guest house and houses nearby where we sayed had no gates at all and no fences at all and you can walk in from any angle. The doors are unlocked…
I am a freak when it comes to locking. It is a lesson I learned growing up in Rhodesia even on a farm. If you don’t tie it down and lock it down the blacks will come to steal it. I learned from an early age that blacks will steal anything that they can move.
I can’t tell you how uncomfortable I felt leaving my laptop in my unlocked room for a whole day. My friend left his BMW unlocked at night. And… yes… not one item was missing or moved from our rooms or from the car.
Orania has a population of about 730 people. The suburb I live in, in Johannesburg, has a population of about 800 people. In my suburb we have Police patrols all the time. We all have security firms protecting us, over and above our 6 foot or 8 foot fences – with razor wire or electric fencing. And we have crime all the time. At a recent Community Police Forum meeting we were told how cars were broken in to, or stolen, even when they are locked. We were told of house robberies, etc.
In Orania there is nothing like that.
I saw blacks in Orania. They drive through the place. Apparently the main crime in Orania is along this main road when blacks decide to try and steal something. But in the areas where the blacks don’t go there is no crime.
Of course, the blacks don’t want to see Orania succeeding. I have no doubt about that. Perhaps now when blacks read this, they’ll decide Orania is a good place to go and stage some robberies.
In all of South Africa, you can’t let your guard down as much as you can in Orania. And I think this one fact alone proves the point that 95%(43)+ of all crime (perhaps 99% of all crime) comes from blacks.
If you get rid of the blacks, you get rid of the crime problem. (The same is true in America – the majority of America’s prison population comes from a small minority of blacks).
In my own suburb, this is very true. My suburb borders on a river. Blacks constantly hide near the river and the worst crime in my suburb is along the roads that are closest to the river. It is not whites who run around stealing from other whites. Its blacks who steal from whites and blacks who steal from blacks. In townships, blacks steal rampantly from other blacks too.
Crime is really a black problem. It is a lack of respect for other people’s possessions and for the concept of ownership.
In the major cities of South Africa crime is such a problem that village complexes are set up with electric fencing and walls up to 15 or even 20 foot high. They have all sorts of advanced security measures, paid security guards, etc.
Yet, friends of mine who live in these complexes tell me of the crime. In fact, they have even more crime than I’ve experienced in my house. And friends of mine who live in the cheaper complexes into which large numbers of blacks move – tell me how utterly rampant the crime is INSIDE THE COMPLEX.
It is a BIG MYTH that complexes are more secure than houses. People pay enormous sums of money in the belief that by living in a complex that they are safer. However, the moment you allow blacks into your complex, your security is compromised. Then one lot of blacks house another lot, and criminals start scoping out the place. You can have criminals in the middle of your complex renting an apartment and then using that as a crime base.
There are few truly secure complexes despite the massive amount of money spent on security.
Yet… there in Orania… without walls… and sometimes without fences or gates whites live quite safely.
There is no place like it in South Africa. Nobody will want to admit it, but Orania is proof that if you get rid of the blacks from inside your community… then you also get rid of the crime.
When I was in Holland in 2003, the Dutch people in Amsterdam told me how the Nigerians were stealing their bicycles. As the Dutch allow more blacks into their midst, so their crime rate also went up. The same is true in Italy and other places where large numbers of blacks from Africa go.
And if crime should come to Orania, it will only come from the blacks. I can just imagine how the blacks will covet what the whites have and will want to steal it there too.
In the early 1980s my older brother said to me: “Jan, the BIGGEST DOWNFALL OF BLACK PEOPLE IS THEIR JEALOUSY OF US AND WHAT WE HAVE.”
We all know its true. The blacks just can’t leave us alone to live in peace. And they can’t live in peace with themselves either.
