Luanda – Twenty-three senior officers of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) were promoted Friday in Luanda to different military ranks during a ceremony presided over by the minister of National Defence, Cândido Pereira Van-Dúnem.
The promoted officers included five colonels, 10 lieutenant-colonels and eight majors, all belonging to the branch of the army in a normal service commission at the Ministry of National Defence, under decree of the chief of staff of the FAA, dated December 2009.
At the occasion, the minister of Defence highlighted the importance of the event, as it reflects the aspiration of the military framework, mainly its gradual promotion towards the highest point (general).
However, minister Cândido Van-Dúnem wished the newly promoted officers success in their ongoing process to rebuild the Angolan Armed Forces.
Among the promoted officers, highlight falls to a lady who was promoted to the rank of major.
The promotion ceremony, held at the premises of the Ministry of Defence, was attended by the chief of staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, General Francisco Furtado, vice ministers of Defence, Salviano de Jesus and Agostinho Nelumba “Sanjar”.
FAA’s inspector general, Gen. Rafael Sapilinha “Sambalanga, generals and senior officers of different branches of the Armed Forces also attended the event.
