I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

Two Pretoria High School pupils’ plan to avoid detention at school backfired when they were robbed at a park near Sinoville.
The 17-year-olds, Kirsty Ivy and Henky Schuman of Overkruin High School, overslept on Tuesday morning, making them late for school.
They decided to wait at a nearby park until break time so that they could sneak in unnoticed, as latecomers were forced to spend break time in detention, according to school policy.
‘I do not know where I got the strength from’ |
“We did not want to spend our break in detention, so we came up with this plan. “We were going to wait in the park and then sneak in,” said Schuman.
While in the park, the two played games on their cellphones and exchanged music before they were approached by a 22-year-old Tanzanian national who initially asked for a lighter.
“He approached us, making gestures with his hands. The cellphones were on my lap when he came up,” said Ivy.
The pupils said the man then started hitting Schuman in his face for no apparent reason, causing him to collapse.
“It happened so fast. He then grabbed the two cellphones from me and I jumped up,” said Ivy.
‘It was a scary experience’ |
“I do not know where I got the strength from, but I fought him, remembering my mother’s warning that it was my last cellphone as I had been robbed of one I had before.”
Realising they were in danger, Schuman got up and also tried to grab the man. He was, however, overpowered.
Ivy said she had held on to the man’s leg as he had struggled to flee. The man bit her on her right shoulder in an attempt to break free.
The two screamed for help as the robber fled on foot.
Schuman ran to a nearby house to seek help, while Ivy desperately ran after the robber.
Their screams for help drew the attention of residence in the area.
JC van der Ryst, a motorist driving by in a maroon bakkie, gave chase and caught the robber two blocks away on Marija and Lekkerpreek streets.
Ivy said when their Good Samaritan had inquired about the cellphones, the man had denied knowledge of them or even stealing them.
“He kept on saying he did not have the cellphones.
“We then called our phones and they both rang in his trouser pockets,” said Ivy.
Members of the community tied the man with cable as he attempted to escape, until police came to the scene.
Ivy’s mother, Alison, said that shortly after her daughter was attacked, a group of four men had attacked her daughter’s friend, Louray Odendaal, robbing her of her cellphone.
“These same four men came back to the park again and attacked and stabbed a pupil from Montana High,” she said.
The man was arrested for robbery.
“I thank all the people that helped us; they were very nice to us. It was a scary experience,” said Schuman.
“Bunking school gets you into trouble. We know that now.”
Alison Ivy expressed their gratitude to the community and the police who “did a stunning job”.
Police spokesperson Mirna von Beneke urged schoolchildren to be wary of criminals when using their cellphones in public.
The suspect is to appear in court soon.
