An ANC election manifesto rally in the Eastern Cape this weekend is not an attempt to derail the COPE manifesto launch in Port Elizabeth, the ruling party said on Thursday.
“The ANC dispels any misconceptions that the Eastern Cape regional manifesto rallies are intended to counter a planned COPE meeting to be held in Port Elizabeth.
“The ANC programmes and campaigns are prepared well in advance and are not subject to influence or dictate of events of other political parties.
“The ANC has national reach, machinery and capacity to be able to hold massive rallies across the country, simultaneously,” the party said in a statement.
The Congress of the People will be launching its election manifesto at the Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth. The ANC will simultaneously host its provincial election manifesto rally in the Nelson Mandela Metropole, also in Port Elizabeth.
The ANC said the rallies formed part of its election campaign. – Sapa
