KwaZulu-Natal police shot dead five suspected robbers and arrested four others in Camperdown on Wednesday.
Superintendent Henry Budhram said police received a tip-off about nine armed men on a minibus taxi on their way to Pietermaritzburg, allegedly to commit a robbery. Police followed the vehicle and stopped it before the Lion Park turn-off on the N3.
“The suspects alighted and fired shots at the police who returned fire. Five robbers were killed and four were arrested,” said Budhram. – Sapa
