“Zimbabwe Today” by Robb WJ Ellis

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

If you will excuse the expression, it beggars belief that Mugabe and his administration should continue to ignore the needs of the people. And those needs include people in prisons – whether they they are there through political activities or criminal.

But Mugabe cannot even focus on the population at liberty – preferring to blame the food shortage on the West, whilst he continues to lavish his party faithful with luxury motor vehicles, satellite dishes and equipment, seized farms and expensive junkets with him to UN summits.

Bulawayo prisoners have been going without meals since October 24 and relatives have since been asked to bring food.

Prison officers at Khami and Grey’s Prison in the city told reporters that relatives were being encouraged to bring food three times a day.

The prison officers said Zimbabwe Prison Services (ZPS) had since recruited public relations personnel to man gates at Khami and Grey’s prisons during visiting hours, advising relatives to bring food for their loved ones. The public relations officers were sometimes reported to turn away visitors who would not have brought food.

Seven inmates at Mutimurefu prison in Masvingo died of hunger related diseases, in August.“

I remember both of these prisons very well as I used to have to visit persons on remand for clarification of statements and the like for court preparation. I remember that the prisons then (some twenty five years ago) were in a bad state of repair. Now they cannot feed the inmates.

A report released by the Zimbabwe Association for Crime Prevention and Rehabilitation of the Offender (ZACRO) recently revealed that at least two inmates die everyday due to hunger and disease at two of Zimbabwe’s biggest jails.

ZACRO said conditions in prisons across the country had deteriorated over the years with the Zimbabwe Prison Service (ZPS) out of cash to buy drugs to treat HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, rampant in jails because of overcrowding.

ZACRO said the ZPS had no money to buy enough food for inmates and in some cases even failed to raise cash to pay for pauper burials for those who succumb to disease and hunger in jail.“

It is a very sad day when a country can no longer afford to feed those behind bars. Even they deserve a plate of food.

I don’t see Mugabe going without any food – although I would love to see him locked up in one of these prisons. Mugabe was incarcerated by the Rhodesian government for eleven years and I can guarantee – without checking – that he was treated with some dignity by the then authorities.

A pity he never learned anything at that time…

ZANU PF is a party borne of violence and death. There is nothing new to these actions – but it is indicative of the uncaring attitude held by Mugabe and his party faithful.

At least 20 MDC supporters in Epworth in Harare had to seek medical attention on Wednesday while five of them have been hospitalised.

The whereabouts of one is unknown after ZANU PF youth militia wreaked havoc following the deadlock between the two major political parties over the SADC-brokered political settlement.

ZANU PF youth militia this week set up two torture bases in Epworth just outside Harare and on Wednesday afternoon they moved around the area assaulting known MDC activists.

The bases are located in Ward 4 at Rueben Shopping Centre and at Maulani.“

And Mugabe, who would have rubber stamped this action, will do nothing to stop it.

The assaults started after losing ZANU PF candidate for the area, Amos Midzi, was spotted visiting the bases earlier in the day. Midzi is also the chairman of the ZANU PF Harare province.

Those leading the terror have been identified as ZANU PF youth chairman for Epworth only identified as Zimbwe. The others are Garakara, Chikandiwa and Makangira.

One of the MDC activists who were attacked is the Ward 4 councillor, Didmus Bande.“

We heard this before…

Embattled Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor Gideon Gono says he will step down at the end of his next month term and will not seek to be re-appointed.

“I know one thing for certain, this governor shall not serve one day longer than he is allowed by his principals,” Gono told delegates to the just-ended Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) congress.

MDC secretary general Tendai Biti who is highly tipped to take over as Minister of Finance in the new all inclusive government early this year blamed Gono for Zimbabwe™s economic woes.

I know that if Biti were to take over the finance ministry and with it, the Reserve Bank, he would have his work cut out for him – big time.

Paramount in his endeavours would be to stem the inflation in Zimbabwe…

Then, of course, there is what to do with the mountain of evidence that must be held by the bank – no matter what Gono does – of the underhand ‘deals’ and theft committed with the bank’s money by ZANU PF and its associated arms.

Gono will, no doubt, attempt something akin to a ‘scorched earth’ policy to destroy any evidence of the duplicitous conduct of ZANU PF. What he perhaps forgets, is that as a former Governor, he is the first on the list for prosecution.

Gono is the number one enemy of this country, not inflation,” Biti, MDC-Harare East said. “He has been stoking the fires of inflation through quasi-fiscal activities.”

Banker and senior MDC official Elton Mangoma who could be appointed Minister of Economic Planning and Investment Promotion is a vocal critic of the central bank chief and called Gono™s recent monetary policy statement, inconsequential “tinkering” with the symptoms of the problem.

Sources speculated that Gono will likely be replaced by deputy governor, Edward Mashiringwani as acting governor until a suitable replacement is found.“

If the office is occupied pro-Mugabe personnel, not much will happen to improve the situation…

I would think that the habit Mugabe has of calling on the war veterns is beginning to rub a little thin on the people – and the veterans.

The veterans must realise that 28 years after the chimurenga, Mugabe has not stood for the principles that he shouted about so loudly in the 1970’s…

Just where is the ‘free’ Zimbabwe that he promised them all?

Sharp differences among war veterans in Masvingo have split the provincial association with the former freedom fighters adopting opposing positions on the power-sharing deal between ZANU PF and MDC.

President Robert Mugabe and the two MDC formations this week failed to come up with a solution over the allocation of key ministries resulting in the case being referred to the SADC extra-ordinary meeting to be held within two weeks a thing which has riled some war veterans .

Two distinct groups have emerged within the former liberation war fighters in Masvingo with one faction calling for Mugabe to give the MDC some of the key ministries while the other wants him not to compromise.

Two splinter provincial executives are scuffling to take control of the affairs of the war veterans leaving scores of the former freedom fighters in a state of confusion over which leadership to report to.“

Mugabe has the innate ability to split any body – and when he begins to split his own party faithful, he shows his true colours.

The old executive, led by Isaiah Muzenda, wants Mugabe to maintain a hardline while the other faction, led by Tranos Huruva, wants the 84-year-old leader to hand over some of the key ministries to the MDC

At a meeting held this week, the Huruva faction denounced the old executive led by Muzenda and established a new one.

Sources within the association said the old executive has since written a letter to Mugabe for them to expel the “rebels”.“

It becomes apparent that any rift in the ZANU PF is good news for any Zimbabwean – no matter whether they are in the country or not. Mugabe has his priorities dictated to him – and about time too!

The thing is we want our party ZANU PF and President Mugabe not to compromise but it appears there are sell-outs amongst us,” said Muzenda.

“Those who say President Mugabe must give the opposition key ministry as part of the power – sharing deal are members of the MDC and not genuine war veterans, We are going to take all the necessary measures to ensure that the rebels are dealt with once and for all.“

Take care.
