I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

A small arsenal of various ammunition rounds was found hidden in the ceiling of an Elandspoort home on Thursday during a raid by the Hercules police station, the police’s airwing and the Tshwane Metro Police.

The bags of bullets – enough to commit several robberies – were handed in at the Pretoria West police station that will take over the investigation.

Captain Dumisani Ndlazi, of Pretoria West said Hercules police had been observing the house in Mauser Street for two weeks after they received information about alleged drug dealings there.

At about 7:20am on Thursday, the police and metro officers followed the informer to the premises.

“The residents were still asleep, and the police woke them up. During the search of the house they found ammunition hidden between the ceiling and the roof,” Ndlazi said.

This included 121 shotgun rounds, 208 rounds for a 9mm pistol, close to 50 R1-and R5-rifle rounds and ammunition for other types of rifles and hand weapons.

In total almost 400 rounds of ammunition were seized.

Five cellphones were also found hidden in the ceiling.

Ndlazi explained that according to the Firearms Act a person can only have 100 rounds of ammunition for a firearm in their possession.

The suspect, who is in his 30s, was arrested on a charge of being in the illegal possession of ammunition. He will remain in custody until his court appearance on Monday.

During the raid police also found dagga on and near the premises.
