I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

The man police arrested in connection with the murder of a police constable in Lingelethu West is believed to have been out on bail at the time of the incident for allegedly shooting another man six times in the head.
A senior police officer told the Cape Argus on Wednesday that the man, who cannot be identified until he appears in court, had been released on bail after he allegedly killed another man last weekend.
“Despite the fact that the weapon used to kill the man was not recovered, the magistrate opted to give him bail,” the officer, who declined to be named, said.
The suspect … fled the scene on foot after he stole the police officer’s service pistol |
Police suspect the man used the same murder weapon to kill Constable Makhikhaya Somdaka on Tuesday.
Provincial police spokesperson Superintendent Billy Jones said Somdaka, 29, was shot in the head while seated at the steering wheel of his police vehicle. He had gone to Lingelethu West to drop off a mentally challenged man found in the Khayelitsha policing jurisdiction.
Provincial police said his partner, who was with the constable, was unharmed, but the Cape Argus has since been reliably informed that Somdaka’s partner was not with him at the time he was shot.
The source said the colleague was a reservist who had an upset stomach and had asked Somdaka whether he could go to the toilet while he dropped off the man.
It is alleged the reservist partner hitched a ride to the scene after hearing about the shooting on the police radios.
The Cape Argus earlier reported that neighbours had seen Somdaka alone in his car.
Police procedure dictates that officers on patrol should work in pairs.
The suspect who shot Somdaka fled the scene on foot after he stole the police officer’s service pistol.
When officers went to the suspect’s house to arrest him, he is believed to have made for the pistol.
Speaking to the Cape Argus this morning, Jones would not be drawn on whether the suspect had been arrested before, nor would he say whether the reservist partner was at the scene when the shooting occurred and what possible disciplinary action the officer involved faces.
