There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

More than 80 cases of child abuse are reported in Pretoria every month, according to police.

This shocking figure was revealed on the eve of a huge meeting where the issue of child abuse will come under the spotlight this week.

The conference, organised by the South African Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (Sapsac), will be attended by people involved in fighting child abuse, including social workers, lawyers and psychologists.

“In line with Sapsac’s aims to promote multi-disciplinary expertise, the conference programme will cater for relevant professionals,” said Sapsac president, Retha Meintjes, an advocate.

Meintjes said that seven different professions involved in working with children would be represented at the conference. “It is hoped all will gain in knowledge of all the disciplines involved,” she said.

Judge Essop Patel said the tragedy of adulthood was that adults often forgot that they were once children.

“For some, having been a child has pleasant memories. For others, being a child is a constant reminder of maltreatment, neglect, degradation and abuse,” he said.

Patel said that comprehensive legislation dealing with child abuse was needed to protect the rights of children effectively.

Speaking at the conference, Susan Kreston, of the University of Mississippi, said that due to changes in its child laws, the United States was experiencing a 85 percent conviction rate when prosecuting child abuse offenders.

“Child abuse in any form is viewed as a very serious crime and must therefore be vigorously prosecuted,” she said.

“We have found that 50 percent of offenders, even when presented with incontrovertible evidence, deny the allegation or justify it, by saying their actions was in the best interests of the child,” Kreston said.

She said that sexual abuse involving boys often went unreported, due to the stigma attached to homosexuality.

Captain Shilovane Malungane, of the police Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, said there had been an alarming increase in the number of reported child abuse cases in Pretoria.

“We are getting more than 80 reported cases of abuse involving children in Pretoria every month,” he said.
