Another ‘anarchic’ ANC meeting ends in brawl

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

Knives were used during a brawl at an ANC branch meeting in Mpumalanga which left nine people in hospital, at least one with a fractured skull. Eight people were later arrested.

There were also unconfirmed reports that guns were produced and that some people were in a coma.

The provincial ANC has expressed its shock and dismay at the actions of the Chrissiesmeer members.

ANC regional secretary and MP Sindisiwe Chikunga said she visited the hospital patients and found some had stab wounds and some had fractured skulls.

She also confirmed that all eight arrested were ANC members.

“We condemn the incident in the strongest terms. Cases have been opened with the police and investigations are continuing. No member of the ANC is expected to behave in this manner. People must learn that only votes determine the leadership of the ANC.”

The brawl at Chrissiesmeer follows a knife attack on Western Cape provincial secretary Mcebisa Skwatsha during an ANC branch meeting in the Boland earlier this month. Ndikho Tyawana was released on bail of R1 000 on Monday.

A new branch leadership was to have been elected at the meeting in Chrissiesmeer, with contenders David Mabuza, who is a frontrunner to succeed Premier Thabang Makwetla as ANC provincial chairperson, and Lassy Chiwayo.

People present said there had been a heated exchange of words which led to knives being flourished and a brawl breaking out.

Chikunga said the party was investigating the cause of the fight. Eight people were facing a variety of charges, including assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

There were conflicting opinions as to the cause of the conflict, with some saying it was to do with rivalry over the branch chairpersonship and others saying a faction of the branch wanted the provincial list conference, due to be held on July 18 and 19, to be postponed.

Mabuza and Chiwayo were vehement supporters of Jacob Zuma at the ANC conference in Polokwane in December.

Mpumalanga ANC spokesperson Paul Mbenyane said although there were challenges in the province, they would not stop the conference from going ahead as planned.

“We are not going to tolerate any anarchic behaviour.”

Chikunga said they would have to convene another branch general meeting before the provincial conference.

The ANC would also investigate whether or not firearms were brandished.
