A robber was killed and two others were seriously injured by angry community members after they shot and robbed a man, Mpumalanga police said on Thursday.
Spokesman Superintendent Abie Khoabane said the three robbers held up a man selling coal in Tweefontein on Wednesday.
“The man was robbed of R2500 and then shot in the arm.”
“Community members heard the gunshot and gave chase,” he said.
According to police several angry community members caught the three men and beat them.
One robber was killed and two others were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“We appreciate the community assisting with crime prevention but taking the law into their own hands and resorting to violence is condemned,” said Khoabane. – Sapa
