The case against a man allegedly found with parts of his dead grandmother’s body in his luggage was postponed in the Butterworth magistrate’s court, the South African Broadcasting Corporation reported on Monday.
Masande Mkhwelo, 24, was not asked to plead and he was remanded in custody.
He was arrested in connection with the murder of his 85-year-old grandmother at Ceru village over the weekend.
Police were alerted to the murder after a villager discovered the victim’s body in a school toilet.
Mkhwelo was arrested at the town’s bus rank on his way to Cape Town. The victim’s head and arms were allegedly found in his luggage, and a human finger came out of his pocket as he was being led to the holding cells.
The case was postponed to November 30. – Sapa
