Eight men and two women were arrested for possession of illegal firearms in Kempton Park on Friday, Gauteng police said.
Constable Zenzile Murudi said the ten were arrested in Plain Road in Kempton Park around 3pm on Friday.
The ten were from KwaZulu-Natal and claimed to work for a security firm providing security to the Letabong Taxi association, operating in Kempton Park.
The taxi association had not confirmed the claim, Murudi said.
Six of the ten people arrested had licences for their firearms.
These six had not been charged but were being held for questioning while police investigate their claimed link to a security company.
