I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

The plot against Jacob Zuma exists only in his head – and he’s not the only senior ANC member under investigation.
This was what the Scorpions told the Mauritius Supreme Court on Friday, dismissing Zuma’s claims that he had been singled out for a politically motivated prosecution as “vague”, unsupported “by any credible evidence” and based only on “his own subjective suspicions”.
Scorpions Special Investigator Izak du Plooy also said the unit had and was investigating other government ministers for corruption, contradicting Zuma’s claim that he was the only senior official they had targeted.
Du Plooy said former defence minister Joe Modise had been under investigation for alleged corruption relating to the arms deal. Modise died before the investigation could be completed.
“Former transport minister Mac Maharaj has also been under investigation … in relation to his alleged corrupt dealings with (Zuma’s former financial adviser and convicted fraudster) Schabir Shaik.”
Zuma had told the Mauritius Supreme Court that the decision of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to recharge him and French arms company Thint for corruption was part of a “carefully orchestrated, politically inspired and driven strategy to exclude me from any meaningful political role”.
Zuma has asked the court for the right to stop the NPA from obtaining the originals of 13 documents used to convict Shaik of fraud and corruption.
Du Plooy said: “I deny (Zuma’s) prosecution (has) any ulterior motive, political or otherwise, and maintain that the NPA is simply discharging its constitutional mandate to prosecute without fear, favour or prejudice.”
He said there was “compelling and objective evidence that Mr Zuma has committed a serious offence” by receiving 783 payments of more than R4-million from Shaik.
The evidence had “to a large extent been tested and confirmed” by the Durban High Court, which convicted Shaik.
By trying to stop the documents from being handed over, Zuma was contending “for the right to intervene to prevent the State from properly investigating the case against him”.
The documents include the diary of former Thint representative Alain Thetard, in which he noted a meeting in which he, Shaik and Zuma allegedly discussed a R500 000 bribe for Zuma.
Lawyers for Zuma and the Mauritian Attorney-General’s office will return to court early next month, when Zuma will have the opportunity to respond to the Scorpions’ claims against him.
He and Thint are due to go on trial for fraud, corruption and money laundering in the Pietermaritzburg high court in August.
