Say goodbye to fat cops

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

Fit and healthy police officers will make life difficult for criminals if Inspector Sipho Thwala’s exercise routines are anything to go by.

On Wednesday, dressed in exercise gear, police officers – the young, old, pregnant, fat and thin – forgot about crime as they endured painful exercises.

While the pregnant and older officers took it easy, the others were determined to win through. They shouted with glee as the music pumped through massive speakers at the police gymnasium in Mayfair, Joburg.

The exercise was Thwala’s brainchild to get police from different parts of Gauteng to get to know each other and try to get fit together.

‘We need to keep in shape so that we can keep up’

He plans to make this a quarterly event and has already started exercise programmes for various police stations.

“We need to keep in shape so that we can keep up with suspects,” said an obviously fit Mpho Malete.

“Other officers are fat, and if you are like that, you can’t even chase a suspect for a kilometre.

“I have chased suspects before – I always do – but don’t think I would have been able to do so had I been fat.”

The 26-year-old officer’s words were backed by Mado Masia, a police officer for 10 years.

She knows that getting fat results in being office-bound and missing out on action on the streets.

“When you go to a police station to report your cellphone stolen, and you encounter a fat police officer, you will probably ask yourself whether that person will be able to run after the suspect,” said Masia.

“But when you find a fit and healthy officer, you are encouraged. People trust a body they see.”

Thwala, a strict instructor, said the exercise would benefit the officers by increasing their alertness.

“Ours is a very important job, but if you are unfit, you won’t be alert at all and won’t be able to act quickly. Every police officer should do this,” he said.

On the sidelines, pregnant Samantha Naidoo and Lebo Mashaba said their bellies were just a “minor setback” – they would get fit after giving birth and chase criminals on the streets of Gauteng.
