Just this afternoon, I was musing over Mugabe punishing the people – like NEVER BEFORE. I also watched the first TV news footage showing Mugabe in public – for the first time since this election.
I have just heard some news that makes me think we could be on the brink of something extremely nasty – even for Zimbabwe where we have seen Mugabe murder 30,000 Matabele and drive the white farmers off their land. His greatest excesses might be lying right before us – days or weeks away. His greatest crimes may be on the verge of being committed. Perhaps, many are alive tonight, who will die in the coming weeks.
I have said all along, I don’t expect him to take this lying down. Mugabe is a devil who never forgives and never forgets. He punishes anyone who crosses him. He has murdered members of his own political party.
The video is here:
[Video] SA: TvNews Report: Mugabe’s first appearance after the critical 2008 election
I put up 2 other videos. One from Joshua Nkomo, the leader of the Matabele tribe, where he says he suffered more under 2 years of Robert Mugabe than under 35 years of fighting White Supremacy:-
[Video] Zim: Matabele Genocide – Joshua Nkomo – I suffered more under Mugabe than White Supremacy!
And here is that fool, Jimmy Carter, praising Robert Mugabe to high heaven. You have to see the complete nonsense Carter talks, which shows that his assessment of Mugabe was as completely wrong as wrong can be! See: [Video] Jimmy Carter praises Robert Mugabe’s fine humanity! (Also Footage of: Queen Elizabeth & Ronald Reagan)
I heard something strange today from a friend in Johannesburg. He said to me, that he was chatting to his Zimbabwean gardner (the Zimbabweans travel a lot between South Africa and Zimbabwe). The Zimbabwean gardener told him that South Africa is preparing a place on the northern border for lots of Zimbabwean refugees!! So I ask myself: What does the South African Govt know about the possibilities of violence there and masses of people fleeing that we do not know? It makes no sense. With this opposition victory, people are keen as hell to GO BACK TO ZIMBABWE. Why the preparations for masses of people fleeing? Is the South African govt expecting masses to flee from violence that has yet to occur?
I received some extremely worrying emails from friends. The one from the USA, on Fox news. I have included it further below.
Then I got this urgent email from a Zimbabwean editor of another Zimbabwean news site:-
Hi Jan
I have just heard that the MDC Offices have been raided by the Security agents in Zimbabwe through the BBC Live in Zimbabwe and the Hotel that accommodates foreign journalists has been surrounded.
Senior members of the MDC have gone into hiding from the security forces that are hunting them down.
Like you said he aint gonna take it lying down, because he knows what Tsvangirai said.
Kwanele
Earlier today I wrote this piece: Zim Election 2008: Officially, Mugabe has lost… or has he? How will he punish the Blacks this time?
In the last election, Mugabe punished the blacks who voted for the opposition by bulldozing and smashing the homes of between 700,000-1 million people! With his snide humour, he called it “Operation Cleanup”. He smashed their houses – and many died from exposure. He never built anything in its place! He just destroyed homes and businesses.
This time, Mugabe is facing a serious problem. He is facing losing his position as President. In fact, it has already been calculated, using reliable methods, that he has lost the Presidential election. See: http://www.zimelectionresults.com/br>
If this election were counted honestly, by the ZEC (Zimbabwe Electoral Commission), then the MDC would have won and Morgan Tsvangirai would be president. They won in the past too – and were cheated then. But this time they won even more convincingly and furthermore they laid down procedures to catch out the electoral fraud. Everyone saw it. Journalists around the world reported it. Everyone knew he was engaging in massive electoral fraud. It was being reported around the world daily.
Many said there would be no electoral run-off for the Presidency, but I have said that Mugabe might choose that option if he believed he could rig a presidential run-off and end up with a majority. Tonight they said that Mugabe is now thinking of using a Presidential Decree to put off the electoral run-off for 3 months instead of the required 3 weeks. There was talk on SABC TV news (that video which I posted above), saying that they are “mobilising the party machinery”. That is ominous talk!
I have heard talk too, that Mugabe may be mobilising the “War Veterans”. Furthermore he has a massive Youth Militia (referred to by the Zimbabweans as “The Green Bombers”). The Green Bombers have beaten and attacked many people over the years, and even murdered them.
Past experience shows us that Mugabe likes to get the first punch in. I mentioned that again a few days ago again: Zimbabwe Election: Mugabe on the offensive (as always)
Mugabe likes to hit his opponent first. Mugabe is a good organiser. He has probably used the last few days to make secret preparations. It could be that he is now enacting his plan.
He has various options. I’ve speculated about how he could still control parliament via the Mutambara faction. But he might prefer other methods – much more violent ones.
He has never flinched from violence. In fact, he won his first election back in 1980 using extreme violence. The way he won his first election was by sending his troops into the bush and sending a message to the blacks in villages across the country. The message was: “Vote for Mugabe OR THE WAR WON’T STOP”. In 1980, that message worked. It got him 63% of the vote.
Mugabe’s opposition, the MDC is too peaceful. They are unarmed. If he uses force against them, they will be defenceless.
But Mugabe has also spoken of political conspiracies by the West. Mugabe could play even dirtier. He could allege that there is some sort of Coup D’etat or violence or means of overthrowing the state being planned. He might WANT A STATE OF EMERGENCY. He might want it so that he can exploit its special powers. He might even artificially manufacture a reason to arrest people and to declare a state of emergency.
But, if he is mobilising the Party and all its structures, I think the real reason is to unleash hell in Zimbabwe unlike anything it has ever seen in its bloody history. It could be that all the previous wars and the previous genocide are nothing compared to this, the last battle.
This time, the MDC has come so close as to beat him outright. This time, Mugabe actually lost despite the cheating. This time everyone saw him lose. This time, even common people on the street saw that he lost. This time, Mugabe came close to being really beaten.
And for this, Mugabe will fight. He will fight like a madman.
It could be that Mugabe is going to carry out his promise. I have warned of it before. A few days ago, I mentioned in my analysis that Mugabe has said before, many times: “We came to power through the barrel of a gun and we intend keeping it that way.” That was quoted back in 1989. In a recent analysis I concluded that Mugabe will be as good as his word: Zimbabwe 2008 Elections: Sorting out the truth from the lies… My Analysis…
I think, given the anger he showed last time, that Mugabe will outdo himself this time. I think this time it will not be just beatings and torture as before. I think this time, it will be MURDER, MURDER, MURDER.
Mugabe sneers at the opposition. He looks down on them as a bunch of Yuppy Puppy Upstarts – as uppity children. He will not take orders from them. I think Mugabe will try to kill them for voting against him.
I have said for years that Mugabe is a Black Hitler. He will make Idi Amin’s murder of 300,000 in Uganda look tame. Mugabe has the personality to be a Hitler’s Hitler. Mugabe once even said that he is willing to be “Hitler Ten-fold” if need be. He has warned time and again against losing power. Back in March 2003, Mugabe stated he was willing to be Hitler ten-fold. The US Govt then slated him for making that statement. See this story: US Slames Mugabe’s ‘Black Hitler’ speech
In 2007 I ran this story: Zim: Parallels between: Hitler, Stalin, Saddam Hussein & Robert Mugabe…
If Mugabe cracks down and persecutes the opposition too much then maybe they will have to go into exile. I mentioned the idea of a Government in exile back in 2005. This was my plan: A Practical Plan to rid Zimbabwe of the Mugabe Tyranny
It could be that Mugabe’s last war, the one which he has warned about for the last 20 years has begun or is about to begin.
I fully expect Mugabe to unleash all hell in preparation for the Presidential run-off.
And keep in mind that Mugabe knows who voted against him and which regions, villages and towns betrayed him. He will wreak vengeance and havoc upon these people.
Those of us who have lived there know what Mugabe is capable of. Now the rest of you will see what we have been warning about since the 1970’s. Now you will see what Ian Smith and others warned about. Now the black people who exercised their right to vote will pay for that right – with their own blood.
Here is the Fox news story:-
‘Crackdown’ in Zimbabwe as Police Raid Hotels
HARARE, Zimbabwe (151) Raids on opposition party offices and the rounding up of foreign journalists are threatening to push Zimbabwe further toward confrontation between current President Robert Mugabe and the apparent winner of national elections.
Police raided the Meikles hotel, which is used by the opposition, Movement for Democratic Change, and ransacked some of the rooms. Riot police also surrounded another hotel housing foreign journalists, York Lodge, and took away several of them, according to a man who answered the phone there.
“Mugabe has started a crackdown,” Movement for Democratic Change secretary-general Tendai Biti told The Associated Press. “It is quite clear he has unleashed a war.”
The New York Times said that its correspondent Barry Bearak, who won a Pulitzer prize in 2002 for his coverage of daily life in war-torn Afghanistan, was taken into custody by police.
“An American consular official who visited him at the central police station reported that he was being held for ‘violation of the journalism laws,'” said Bill Keller, executive editor of the Times, in a statement.
“We are making every effort to assure that he is well treated, and to secure his prompt release.”
Biti said the raid at the Meikles Hotel targeted “certain people … including myself.” Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai was “safe” but canceled plans for a news conference, he said.
Sky News reported that two foreign journalists were arrested for covering the election without accreditation.
“I can confirm that we have arrested two reporters at York Lodge for practicing without accreditation,” said spokesman Wayne Bvudzijena, who told Sky News that police would identify them on Friday.
Biti said Thursday’s clampdown was a sign of worse to follow but that the opposition would not go into hiding.
“You can’t hide away from fascism. Zimbabwe is a small country. So we are not going into hiding. We are just going to have to be extra cautious,” he said.
Committee to Protect Journalists Executive Director Joel Simon said the group was alarmed by the reports Thursday. “In light of the political situation, it is imperative that all journalists, foreign and domestic, be allowed to work freely,” he said.
Independent observers say their own projection based on results posted at a representative sample of polling stations showed that Tsvangirai won the most votes in Saturday’s election, but not enough to avoid a runoff.
Mugabe’s Deputy Information Minister Bright Matonga said Mugabe was ready for a runoff, dashing hopes that he would bow quietly off the national stage he has dominated for 28 years.
“This is politics. The game is still on,” Matonga told Sky News. “We are going to fight. We are going to fight big.”
“We will make sure we defend the games of independence,” he continued. “There is no panic. There are no cracks in ZANU-PF. We’re taking this in our stride.”
On Thursday, Mugabe was shown on state television meeting African Union election observers, his first public appearance since Saturday’s elections.
A commission member indicated presidential results would be announced Friday, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. But that was before the commission announced that Thursday’s expected announcement of senate results was delayed because of “logistical problems.”
The commission said it still was receiving ballot boxes from the provinces, raising questions about where those votes had been since the elections amid charges of a plot to rig the results. Western election observers have accused Mugabe of stealing previous elections.
International concern mounted about the continuing delays.
“We still have not seen the important thing, which is real live election results,” said State Department spokesman Tom Casey. “We need to see an official tally, see it soon and have assurances made that this is actually a correct counting of the votes.”
“Delays raise serious questions in our minds about what is going on in the vote counting,” he said.
Former U.N. chief Kofi Annan said the continuing delays were dangerous. He urged the government and the electoral commission to scrupulously observe the electoral law and “to declare the election results faithfully and accurately.”
“We live in an open world today and indeed the eyes of the world are on Zimbabwe, on its Electoral Commission, on its President. I urge them to do the right thing, to respect the Constitution and to obey the electoral laws. The election results should be released now,” he said.
Mugabe has ruled since his guerrilla army helped force an end to white minority rule in then-Rhodesia and bring about an independent Zimbabwe in 1980.
He ordered the often-violent seizures of white-owned commercial farms, ostensibly to return them to the landless black majority. Instead, Mugabe replaced a white elite with a black one, giving the farms to relatives, friends and cronies who allowed cultivated fields to be taken over by weeds.
Today, a third of the population depends on imported food handouts. Another third has fled the country and 80 percent is jobless. Inflation is the highest in the world at more than 100,000 percent and people suffer crippling shortages of food, water, electricity, fuel and medicine. Life expectancy has fallen from 60 to 35 years.
